About Classes

Working Art Seminar for Visual Artists of all Levels

3 Days taught by Bernd Haussmann:

February 2, 3, 4  Fri.  Sat.  Sun.

9:00am – 4:00pm  $395.00

During this seminar, artists will work on their own practice to connect to their source and go beyond art as a product. Through focused art making, mindfulness, music, and meditation, artists give rise to greater authenticity and deepen their practice. Haussmann thoughtfully guides, supports, and encourages each artist to expand awareness on the true purpose of art.

In this Seminar, Boston Artist Bernd Haussmann will privately and in groups discuss the art making process and guide students as they work on their own projects.

This is a three day intensive.

Friday, February 2,  9AM – 4PM

Saturday, Feb 3, 9AM – 4PM

Sunday, February 4, 9AM – 4PM.

Students bring all their own supplies. They will be given a working space that will be treated as their studio for the three days. Work and supplies will safely remain in their space throughout the workshop.

The most important endeavor for artists is to find an authentic way to express themselves with the intent of improving their ability to access creative resources.  In a collaborative dialogue, students will explore what they feel strongly about in order to share that concern with others through their artwork.  Each student will explore how to use visual imagery as a means to communicate, tapping into one’s own unique and independent voice.  Artists working in all media may take this course. Please bring a smart phone or digital camera and a project and medium with which you work as an artist.

Bernd Haussmann has been working independently since 1988 and, although mostly known for his paintings and drawings using various media, digital imagery and short videos are an integral part of his work. Haussmann’s work is visible nationally and internationally, at galleries, art fairs, museums and non-profit organizations. His work is in the collections of The Danforth Museum of Art, the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, MA; various museums along the East Coast and in Texas; public venues near Tuebingen, Germany.

Still Life Painting and Drawing Exploration
While this class is great for beginners in observational painting or drawing, all levels are welcome. By studying a beautiful still life, all concepts of drawing and painting will be explored. Although this class explores the interpretation of the still life with traditional formal issues of art making, these formal issues can be used to create a more expressionistic or impressionist, personal evolution of your own painting style. The student can choose to work in acrylic, guoache, oil or dry media.

Open Studio
All Media Welcome. I will assist students in creating and completing the project of their choice. Students are free to work from a still life, use a landscape reference, or work from a photograph or idea. I will help each student individually to reach their artistic goals.
